Hi! I'm Judy, an avid baker and food freak. I love being a wife, homeschooling mother and DIYer. I'd rather read a cookbook over a novel any day! So needless to say, I was overjoyed to find the world of food blogging. I knew instantly I had found something I wanted to be a part of and that is why I started this site.
My earliest memories of being in the kitchen was when my mom was making a birthday cake. With four girls in the family, we used to fight over who would lick the icing off the beaters. Mom would put the finishing touches on the cake with the icing that comes in a can. When she was all done with the cake, she would put a dollop of icing on the tip of our nose, and laugh as we tried to lick it off!
Once I became a mom, I had sticker shock when I ordered the cake for my son's first birthday. That's when I quickly enrolled in the Wilton Cake Decorating Courses, knowing that I had several more years of cakes to make. After I saw all the hard work that goes into making and decorating a cake, I realized that first cake was worth every penny! I continued seeking new skills by taking classes at our local culinary institute and studying with great sugar artists like Colette Peters and Nicholas Lodge.
Gumpaste became my favorite medium to work with. I've made several instructional videos that you can find on my YouTube channel. Here I'll share tips, techniques and recipes for cake decorating, sugar confections and gumpaste flowers. I do hope to inspire you just as others have inspired me.
